Claim for brain injury as a result of a road traffic accident

The Claimant sustained a serious brain injury as a result of a road traffic accident, when he was knocked off his bicycle by a driver who failed to give way at a junction. The Claimant was not wearing a cycle helmet at the time and sustained a serious head injury. He also sustained some more minor facial and dental injuries.

The injury to the Claimant’s head resulted in a permanent brain injury, affecting his cognitive abilities. The Claimant’s mood and personality altered significantly, resulting in the breakdown of his marriage. He was unable to return to his previous job and has also been diagnosed with an increased risk of developing epilepsy. The Defendant insurers settled the claim after the commencement of court proceedings and the Claimant accepted the sum of £275,000 in settlement of his claim.
