Claims for asbestosis

Asbestosis is a lung condition caused by the inhalation of asbestos fibres. It is a progressive and potentially disabling condition and diagnosis is made on the basis of symptoms; x-ray appearances and a history of heavy asbestos exposure.

It is likely that the majority of new cases of asbestosis reflect poor working conditions in the latter part of the 20th century when asbestos was used as a lagging and fireproofing material or in construction.

The level of disability caused by asbestos may vary according to a number of factors. Some of those affected may experience slight breathlessness but others may be significantly disabled by the condition. Although there is no cure for asbestosis it may be possible to treat the symptoms if the condition is diagnosed at an early stage.

If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with asbestosis then you may need specialist advice about entitlement to compensation. Contact our team who will deal with your query in a sensitive and proactive way.
