Injuries resulting in scarring

For many people the most distressing aspect of an injury is the scarring that may remain long after any pain has subsided. Scarring has the capacity to cause anxiety, depression and loss of self esteem. It can affect relationships; employment opportunities and prove just as disabling as the original injury.

Although the most serious scarring may occur after burns or lacerations it is sometimes the case that significant problems can develop after relatively minor injuries. Occasionally scarring can be an unwanted result of cosmetic surgery.

Where scarring develops as a result of the negligence of another, either through injury or surgery, it may be possible to seek compensation. In some cases the injured party may be able to secure funding for private treatment to minimise the effects of the scarring.
